I really like this small Chinese restaurant. It has no atmosphere for eating there but really good take out. They use white chicken which is my favorite. My kids love the chicken fried rice. Cheap lunch options also.

I didn't superlove my first experience at Foo Yen. I came here on an off moment just walking through EGR and suddenly felt hungry and accidentally stumbled upon this place thinking it'd be fast and cheap. It was fast but somewhat more expensive than other Chinese takeout spots in GR (the invisible East Grand Rapids tax i guess...) and I ordered Szechuan tofu and veggies, expecting a slightly spicy version if the same tofu and veggie dish I always order at every other Chinese takeout place i go to. I brought it home, as it's not exactly a nice looking place to eat...Very grey, basic and cafeteria-like. Ugly framed prints from the early 90s on the walls. Anyway, More importantly, I wasn't very in love with my meal. Most notably the sauce was super watery and the veggies soggy and mushy. It was like eating a weird soup over rice. I just wasn't super into it. I'd be willing to give Foo Yen another try, but overall was not impressed this first time around.

Not the same as previous owner. Ordered orange crispy chicken and seafood delight. Batter of Crispy chicken tasted a bit bitter. And chicken was mostly hard and chewy. Seafood delight was ok but I had to look hard for the seafood. Quality of food from previous owner was much better. She also had lots of non-generic items in the menu. Foo yen needs to step up with higher quality cuisine.

Fortune Cookie say "Do not return evah".
I will listen to my fortune for the first time in my life.
Food, mediocre.
Help, less than mediocre. Staff said the phone order we made would be ready to pick up at 6:30. Nope, we sat for 1/2 hour more till 7PM waiting for the mediocre food to be given to us. People in front, ordered, waited and walked out without getting their food. We should have.
Sign in window asking for help. From anyone.. I don't think anyone or anything will help this place. I wasted my money yet again. -

Ordered from Foo Yen last night for the first time. I asked for the cashew chicken with no onions or mushrooms. What I received was a box of approximately 4 peppers' worth of green peppers, half a cup of chicken, and dry roasted peanuts. The rice was mushy and the tiny bit of chicken there was was flavorless.
